Why should I be interested in Geography?
INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN GEOGRAPHY
"Human Geography explores the relationships between humans and their natural environment, and tracks the social patterns that shape human societies." Today we discussed topics surrounding Human Geography with a focus on population growth. We looked at several controversial issues that are related to this topic including: hunger, overcrowding and poverty.
WHERE PEOPLE LIVE: POPULATION DISTRIBUTION AND DENSITY
As hard as it is to believe, the population of the Earth has not always been so crowded. In fact, at the end of the last Ice Age (10 000 years ago) there was only about 10 million people worldwide. This number has grown to 7 billion people today with estimates of up to 10 billion by the year 2050.
Demography is the study of human population and the issues related to where - and how well - people live.
Their work helps us to predict future populations and where problems may exist.
